Run Your Birthday
Growing up I always wished for a birthday in the summer. Sometimes you just get the short end of the stick. While some kids were having pool parties and backyard barbeques, I was trying to save my digits from the -40 degree February weather that graces the Montana Hi-line. Regardless, I was proud of that eternally frigid day in February. When they made that classic 90’s cinematic masterpiece, Groundhog Day, I stood a little taller and had a smidge more pep in the step, for that was MY day. Celebrated for all the world to see. So this January, your challenge is to celebrate your day. Hell, celebrate it multiple times. Your challenge is to run your birthday.
Run the “Month.Day” of your birthday. For instance: if you were born January 1, you simply have to run 1.1 miles. If you were born December 31st, well that sucks for you, but you’re running 12.3 miles if you want in on this January challenge. If you decide to bike your birthday, multiple your birthday by 3 and hit that mileage goal. The 2021 challenge rules apply, so if you run, make sure you have at least 1 mile under the 15 min/mile mark (only 1 mile has to be under 15 minutes). Be safe and have fun. Once you complete the activity sign up for the Run Your Birthday challenge on the Strava club page and tag Josh (@joshpierce) and Ryan (@ryanmellem) in the comment section of your activity. Once the challenge is complete, we’ll draw one finisher’s names from a hat for the $50 prize. If you have any questions, please reach out to us. Josh loves answering questions!
