May I Have Another?
It was mid-May 1989. I was on my slow plodding trajectory to manhood. Tracy, the hot girl from 4 blocks over sidled up beside me behind some bushes as we partook in a game of hide and go seek. As the seeker drew near, she pressed a finger to her lips telling me to be quiet. I was nervous….sweaty. My heart was racing. The blue eyed vixen of Sunnyside grade school had just slipped her hand in mine. There was danger in the air. Fear…anxiety…excitement charged through my prepubescent body. I was in uncharted territory. Two hours ago I was playing with Transformers. Now, I’m sitting on the precipice of a life changing event. I’m frozen as she presses her lips on mine. Time moved so fast and so slow at the same time. It was all a blur and still crystal clear at the same time. In a flash (or was it an eternity) it was over. I went into those bushes a boy and came out a man. There’s no doubt I was a different kid in the beginning of May than after that night, albeit, outwardly nothing seemed to change.
Our Challenge for you this May is to run the same (or more) mileage in the second half of the month as you did in the first. It may seem like an easy thing to do, but we’ve noticed that efforts tend to be higher in the earlier parts of the month than the later. So, get out there and put in some later month effort. When you complete the challenge, tag Josh and I in your run and sign up for the event. We will pick one of you as the monthly challenge winner for the prize. As always: Have fun, be safe, and anything worth doing is worth overdoing.
