R(ides) and Str(ides) of March

In the Shakespearean play “Julius Caesar”, Caesar is famously warned to “beware of the ides of March”. The ides are basically a simple way of saying the middle of the month and usually corresponds to a new moon. Once upon a time it was celebrated as the new year and a time of excitement. Then Brutus changed everything with a prison yard shiv straight to Caesar’s torso.

Since that time, the ides of March have been considered the bermuda triangle of month middles. However, Josh and I (but really just Josh) thought we should flip the script and once again celebrate the month of March with our classic 100/300 challenge. This is the first time we’ve done this one in winter/spring, but it always gets a lot of interest and is a great base builder for your pending big runs and future monthly challenges.

This March your challenge is to run a total of 100 miles in the month of March or ride a total of 300 miles for the month. Once again we’ll draw a winner from those that complete the challenge for the monthly prize. Make sure you sign up for the challenge after you complete it and tag @joshpierce and @ryanmellem once you’ve completed the challenge. Those that do both the run distance and the bike distance will get 2 entries into the drawing so make sure you tell us if you’ve completed them both. Once again have fun, be safe, and anything worth doing is worth overdoing.
