One Slice of Pie Please
Each Thanksgivings Americans eat, on average, 50 million pumpkin pies. Generally speaking, the average amount of pie consumed per American is 1 slice with an estimated calorie content around 323 calories. Slather on some whip cream or some ice cream and you're set up for a nice little afternoon tryptophan and sugar laden siesta. Getting out early for some exercise is the best way to combat the inevitable gorging coming later in the day. We encourage you to find your local Turkey Trot and join in on the festivities. Race hard or simply show up for the camaraderie. Either way its a great way to kick of the holiday fiesta.
The November challenge must take place on Thanksgiving Day, November 28th, 2024. You must run or ride until you've burned at least 400 calories. It shouldn't take too long. Most people burn around 100 calories per mile running at a 10 min/mile pace. Your smart watch, exercise machine, bike computer, or the Strava app should keep track of calories burned during your activity. If you can't find a way to track your activity, run/bike for 45 minutes at a moderate pace. At least one running mile must be within the 15 min/mile pace. We will draw one winner for the monthly prize. Once you’ve completed the activity, sign up for the event and tag @joshpierce and @ryanmellem in the comments. As always, have fun, be safe and anything worth doing is worth overdoing.
